Jessica Tilley
Children's Book Author
A note from Jessica Tilley

Thank you for visiting my author website!  I've spent some of the best times in my life reading books and writing creatively.  I became an author because I wanted to contribute to the multi-cultural, creative children's book market.  One of my goals is to provide interesting reading options for educators as well as young readers and their families.  My primary goal is to influence children and their families to grow together by finding ways to communicate as well as deal with everyday issues together.

I have created several poems, short plays, and other stories that I hope to share with you here and via online stores.  To that end, my first published work, "You Have To Be Smart If You're Going To Be Tall," is highlighted on this site.  My logo is jilley-a combination of my first and last name with the first letter being shaped like a combination butterfly and the letter, "j."  I'll use it to promote current and future products.

I have worked in education for over 18 years.  In addition to spending time with my family I love to read, make jewelry, and sample new desserts :-)

I welcome you to navigate your way through my website to learn more about my work but most importantly to find media that inspires you and your little ones.

Author Visit
My 2nd visit to Beltline was an awesome experience.  I had the opportunity to read to familes and interact with students from last year.  "We remember you!  Can you read your new book to us please?"  Some students even read the books to me.  A special thank you to the families who got autographed books to help build their children's at-home libraries.

You're invited to share my journey to becoming a published author.  I hope this blog will help others by providing inspiration, motivation and any needed ah-hahs for working through the process of becoming a published author.
My Blog...
I took some storytelling courses a few years ago.  One of our assignments was to create or retell a fable.  I've attached the audio recording here for you to hear.  Take a listen to the entire concert if you have time.  The professor publishes the concerts as part of the course so while this is my original work, the distribution of it belongs to the university/course.  I liked the assignment because creating the fable was a new experience for me.
